Clinic
Rouse Hill Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre is open from 7am to 8pm Mon-Fri and 8am to 1pm Sat.
Before and after hours appointments may be available.
Appointments are available every 15-30mins.
Initial Consultation
Allow yourself up to 1 hour which will include a thorough history and examination to tell you what is wrong and from there we develop an individualised treatment or management plan. It is important to bring with you all X-Rays, CT scans, Ultrasounds or MRI's if you have had any, both old and recent relating to current injury.
Follow-up Consultation
Allow yourself 30-60 minutes for ongoing treatment and exercise progression.
Depending on the area being treated, Physiotherapists may require patients to change to fully assess the area. We have a selection of shorts and singlet tops within the clinic to borrow, but you are more than welcome to bring your own clothes.
How do we Treat?
The key to appropriate treatment is identifying the problem and the cause. Our physiotherapists will undertake a thorough history and examination on your first treatment to tell you what is wrong and from there we develop an individualised treatment or management plan.
Our physiotherapists use a variety of treatment techniques and always learning more. This can include:
- Soft Tissue therapy
This includes a variety of massage techniques to release the tension in muscles and fascia in the body, remove swelling and scar tissue and assist in regeneration of muscles, ligaments and tendons.
- Massage Therapy
We now offer specific massage therapy sessions to assist with your general health and wellbeing. We specialise in sports and remedial massage with 30 and 60 minute appointment sessions available.
- Exercise Rehabilitation
This is the use of specific exercises to address a weakness which may have led to an injury or has come about because of an injury. We use a variety of free weights and machines within the clinic as well as body resistance, core and postural exercises. We also provide programs to be done at home to speed up your recovery and provide exercises to prevent future injury.
- Exercise Physiology
This includes assessment and programs for people wishing to have a gym program to assist with weight loss, diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiac rehabilitation and general strength and condition. We may be able to come to your gym and assist you there as well write you a program to do at home.
- Dry Needling
This is the use of acupuncture needles to release the tension in the muscle caused by trigger points or knots.
- Joint mobilisations and manipulations
This is the movement of joints manually to try and increase the range of movement and decrease pain.
- Pilates
Pilates is used within the clinic as part of a prescribed exercise program to assist in core and general strengthening. The theory of pilates encourages breathing techniques and the strengthening of muscles to stretch other muscles of the body.
- RICE
For acute injuries the basics of RICE are still very important and they are used within the clinic. The key for all injuries and post-operative patients is to reduce the swelling around the injury and that is best done with Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
- Braces and Taping
If you require or will benefit from bracing we can measure and order a brace specific to your problem. We can also order braces for injury prevention such as ankle braces and advise on the best brace for your sport or activity. We also use a variety of taping techniques to protect muscles and joints and to also assist in using those joints and muscles properly or to reduce pain. The right taping or bracing can keep you playing or working longer and better.
- Casting and Splinting
If you require your limb immobilised in a cast or splint we can make them up for you. We offer synthetic waterproof casts and thermoplastic splints custom made and fitted.
